— From the (Very Human) Team Behind the Desk

At Gentle Dentistry, we spend our days helping clinics run smoothly — but no matter how good the systems are, there are a few things we wish patients knew that could make everyone’s day better. Read on…

Late Cancellations = Wasted Appointments and Delayed Urgent Care

When someone cancels with short notice — or just does not show up — it is more than a missed slot. It is a wasted appointment that someone else needed, administrative time lost, and a lot of resources wasted.

We fully appreciate that unforeseen circumstances arise, but providing even brief notice allows us the opportunity to offer the appointment to someone else. It is like skipping a personal training session without notice — your coach is there, ready, and someone else would have loved the slot.

We Do Not Judge —Honesty Helps Us Help You

Behind with regular checks? Unsure how to explain a weird symptom? Wearing slippers because it has just been one of those days? It is totally fine. We are human too.

The more transparent you are with us, the better we can provide appropriate care.

Our Advice Has Purpose

We do not offer recommendations lightly. Whether it is a treatment plan, lifestyle suggestion, or follow-up guidance, each piece of advice is intended to support your health and reduce the need for repeat visits.

If we recommend something, it is because we genuinely think it will make a difference. Bonus points if you actually do it!

Your Administrative Team = Your Best Friend in the Building!

Katie and Izzy are far more than receptionists (‘calendar wizards’, ‘crisis managers’, and all-around multitasking legends). They expertly manage scheduling, oversee urgent matters, coordinate referrals, and sometimes perform miracles to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.

They remember your name, voice, and sometimes even small personal details. If they appear hurried, please understand it is not directed at you personally, but rather due to the numerous tasks they are simultaneously managing behind the scenes.

A good relationship with the admin team is like having a backstage pass — you will not always see the magic, but you will feel the difference.

Yes, We Really Do Remember You (and Your Love of Garden Centres)

You might be one of dozens of patients we see in a day, but you are not just a time slot on the calendar. We remember who always books early to avoid the school run, who is renovating their kitchen (still!), who is off to Italy next month, whose child just started swimming lessons, and who always brings biscuits (thank you, by the way).

Even with all the names, forms, and follow-ups we oversee, we genuinely enjoy getting to know you. Therefore, if we ask about your holiday or your hobby, it is because we want to, not because of obligation.

That personal connection is the best part of the job — and yes, we are still wondering how the tiling turned out.

Final Thoughts

Healthcare is not just forms and follow-ups — it is people helping people. We might not always get everything perfect, but we are doing our best to make every visit personal, helpful, and caring.

If you have ever wondered what keeps your local clinic ticking… it is a whole lot of teamwork, caffeine, and care.
